Admission Policy
Applicants for admission to Southern Bible Institute and Seminary will be considered without regard to race, class, or
nationality. The prospective student is assessed according to their academic background and personal testimony for
the Lord Jesus Christ. In considering applications, the complete record of the prospective student will be reviewed. If
the prospective student meets the required standard, they are admitted to Southern Bible Institute and Seminary until
they complete their program or becomes inactive.
A degree from Southern Bible Institute and Seminary is not an indication that the student obtaining the degree has
been recommended for licensing or ordination. Each ecclesiastical denominational organization has its own set
guidelines for licensing and ordaining it ministers.
Applications must be made on the official form furnished by the Seminary. When the necessary information and fees
are received, action will be taken on the application by the Administration. The applicant will be notified of the
decision.
Admission Requirements
General
Acceptance to a degree program at Southern Bible Institute and Seminary will be granted only after evaluation of the
application reference form and official transcript has been made. A $50.00 registration fee must accompany the
application.
Grading
All course work completed at Southern Bible Institute and Seminary is graded
by letter and may be interpreted as follows:
Grade Meaning Grade Point/Semester Hours
A Excellent 4.0/3
B Good 3.0/3
C Average 2.0/3
D Poor 1.0/3
F Failure 0
S Satisfactory (available only to auditing students)
U Unsatisfactory (available only to auditing students)
*Degree Reports count as 10 points of grade.
Student Classification
All Southern Bible Institute and Seminary students are classified as
follows:
A Full Time:
A student taking 12-15 hours or more per semester (4-5 courses)
A Part Time:
A student taking less than 12 hours per semester (under 4 courses).
This is considered the minimum load.
The total required credits for classifying students by grade level are as
follows:
00-29 credit hours Freshman
30-59 credit hours Sophomore
60-89 credit hours Junior
90-119 credit hours Senior
120+ credit hours Graduate
The Southern Bible Institute and Seminary school year is divided into four (4) semesters: August through
mid-October is listed as the summer semester; mid-October through December is listed as the fall semester;
January through March is listed as the winter semester; April through June is listed as spring semester.
There is no penalty for an accelerated pace. A student may complete his/her degree as quickly as his/her life
situation permits. Typically, however, it will take student at least two (2) years to meet the requirements for any
given course of study due to the residency requirements.
Dismissal & Re-Admission Policies
Southern Bible Institute and Seminary reserves the right to place on probation, suspend or dismiss a student whose
academic standing, financial obligations, progress or conduct is not deemed as satisfactory by the administration. The
following students are removed from active status and required to submit a new application for admission:
Any external student who does not submit at least one course annually.
Any student who does not complete his program within the specified length of time.
Please Note: Any previous balance owed to Southern Bible Institute and Seminary must be paid before a student will be
able to make application for re-activation. Also, a student submitting an application for re-activation will re-enter his
program at the tuition rate, with degree requirements in effect at the time of his re-activation.
Graduation
Each year graduates from Southern Bible Institute and Seminary, turn their tassels in celebration of earning their
Institutional Diploma or Seminary Degree. While attendance is not mandatory, it is strongly urged, for this is an
evening never to be forgotten. It allows students the opportunity to meet instructors and administrators face to face,
as well as provide them with some idea of the worldwide impact his/her Alma Mater enjoys. Set aside the first Friday
in May to join us in the United States of America, at the Second Baptist Church in Thomson, Georgia for this wonderful
occasion in the life of our institution.
